My New Summer "It" Bag
Hey Modern Farmhouse Girl!
Besides a few key pieces that I wear on rotation (like these Joanna Gaines earrings), jewelry is not my favorite accessory. But bags. (And OK, fall boots!)
But back to bags. I am always ogling something new (I'm a huge fan of anything Kate Spade) and since my #baglady obsession began at least 10 years ago at age 16, I've amassed quite a collection. Also thanks to my Aunt Roseanne (my dad's sister) and my Uncle Fred (my mom's brother) I have some really beautiful pieces, including some Kate Spades!
When I'm bag shopping for an occasion, I always like to start at local thrift stores. I've scored Coach wallets, a real cow-hide purse and one of my all-time favorites—a Dooney Bourke bucket bag with a pink gingham interior! You can't beat the prices and you're always sure to find something unique!
I don't think I've mentioned yet that I live outside of Burlington, Vermont. This is only now relevant because we have some amazing thrift stores. My absolute favorite has to be Dirt Chic on Main Street in Burlington. I'm such a regular (consigner and shopper) that I'm on a first-name basis with the staff. If you go, be sure to check out the $5 dress rack and the $5 jeans pile. My favorite pair of bell-bottom jeans came from it!
Long asides short, I picked up an amazing woven purse at Dirt Chic last night... for $16.50! And I definitely need to credit my friend and fellow thrifter, Julia W., who spotted it on DC's Instagram and pointed out it would have been great in my Beachy Gift Guide (I completely agree).
Here it is (celebratory bottle of wine not included):

$16.50 from Dirt Chic in BTV!
And here are a few of my other favorite thrift store finds:
My beloved Dooney Bourke bucket bag, with pink gingham inside! (I am always a fan of gingham or buffalo check...) I don't remember what I paid for it, but I do remember it was a steal. And I found it in a thrift store that's now closed in my hometown of Northampton, MA.
Well, vintage from the early 2000s. This was a gift from my Aunt Roseanne who carried this for years and then replaced it with a new one when the cell phone pocket didn't fit her phone anymore! (She now has a mini-iPad sized phone.)
The mini cell-phone pocket (!!!), which definitely does not fit my iPhone either...
Where are your favorite thrift stores? I'd love to know so I can check them out if I'm ever in your neck of the woods :)
