A bit about me...
My first name really is Lucy! But no, my last name isn't Lemonade—though that would be pretty PERFECT. It's my brand, est. 2018. #makinglemonsintolemonade
Here's the backstory: 2017 brought me one. BIG. (metaphorical) lemon: a condo. I bought my little spot (in a teeny town in Vermont) IN FORECLOSURE on July 7, 2017. And for the past year, I've been turning what was a flea-ridden (yep), bad-boiler-fitted (uh-huh), everything-was-pretty-much-broken-or-had-holes-in-it (you know...) 1,080 square foot spot into (also metaphorical) lemonade.
I'm now well underway in the making of my dream retreat, my very first home, with plenty of DIY projects (and #fails too) to share. I love experimenting when the mood strikes with everything from chalk paint to peel-and-stick wallpaper to installing new floors (OK, maybe I didn't like doing the last one too much, and it was 99.9% my Uncle Frank who put in the floors...but the results I like!).
I'm very much currently inspired by the modern farmhouse look of my hero and role-model, Joanna Gaines (of Fixer Upper/Magnolia Homes/Hearth & Hand at Target fame). I'm sure you'll hear me refer to her a few more times along the way. I'm also a big fan of all-things vintage, antiques (antiquing weekends—hello Brimfield!) and tag sales. I like to peruse Craigslist for fun and I LOVE to ‘shop’ (not buying anything though!) online while watching Netflix (#giftguideinspo). *Current* favorite stores: Home Goods, Target, Pier One, Michaels and Magnolia.com. More favs of the minute: my tall yellow Frye boots, my KitchenAid Stand Mixer (it's Pistachio colored! Thank you Uncle Fred!) and Atkins Farms apple cider donuts. I’m also currently into hashtags. Like, #really. I apologize in advance. It might be a #phase? (Insert girl with her hands up emoji.)
A bit about you...
You would totally walk into a store called "Lucy Lemonade" because you thought the name was super cute! (No, I don’t have a store, but just throwing that assumption out there, because you’re just like me.) You're a first-time homeowner, or maybe you're onto your second home #getitgirl! You definitely bought a #fixerupper either way. You are ALL ABOUT vintage, antiques and a modern farmhouse feel for decor.
You have a fun day job so you can support yourself, but you're not making millions yet. You’re definitely on a budget (you know, student loans, insurance payments and that money you're stashing away to buy that sweet vintage colored KitchenAid stand mixer you want that will match your kitchen PERFECTLY.). When you do have spare time and spare money, you love to do DIY home projects on the weekends, glass of wine in hand. And yes, you will ALWAYS invest in a well-placed seasonal pillow #HomeGoodsforlife.
Like all new homeowners (or really, all homeowners), you have to deal with the occasional ISSUE (appliance breakdown or failure, etc. etc.) but you know how to keep your cool, turn that lemon into a refreshing glass of lemonade so to speak (sorry, couldn't help myself) and you Google that solution — you're ON IT! Once you've rectified it, you might even buy yourself a gift...something small...because you love a good Gift Guide (like the ones on Lucy Lemonade monthly). You deserve it!
Let’s juice up your home!
I hope my DIY and decorating projects will inspire you to turn your own lemons into lemonade! I also plan to write monthly gift guides (because everyone needs a gift—to give or get—now and then) and share inspiration from my thrift shopping and antiquing trips on occasion. Let me know if you like what you see and follow me on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook for updates!
